Social Security will begin paying seniors a new, higher COLA check in the coming weeks, with seniors whose birthdays fall within a particular range getting it first.

More than 64 million Social Security retirees will get a bigger payout this month, averaging $1,657 per person.

In 2021, the average monthly remuneration for retired workers was $1,565 per month, a significant increase.

Individuals born between January 1 and January 10 will receive their first adjusted check on January 12.

Checks will be mailed on January 19 to anyone born between the 11th and the 20th of the month.

Individuals born at the end of the month will get checks beginning January 20 and ending January 26.

On the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month, checks will be mailed to those whose birthdays fall at the beginning, middle, and end of the month, accordingly.

For the month of December 2022, payments will be made.

  • The 14th of December is the second Wednesday.
  • December 21st is the third Wednesday of the year.
  • December 28th is the fourth Wednesday of the year.
