Despite the Majority of the Us Relaxing Restrictions, Dr. Fauci Said Americans Should Not Believe Covid Is “Over.”
While the year 2020 may seem distant, Dr. Anthony Fauci asserts that COVID-19 is not yet “over” for the American population.
Earlier this week, the Chief Medical Advisor talked with Samantha Manning at Cox Media Group. Manning inquired during their talk about what citizens may anticipate now that many towns and states are easing COVID rules. She wanted to know if we can anticipate another lockdown in the event that further “aggressive” variations emerge.
“I don’t believe the public should receive the sense that we’re declaring victory,” Fauci remarked in the video below. “We will be dealing with SARS-CoV-2 for an extended period of time. We want to avoid the need to shut down anything.”
Fauci’s remarks come as several populated regions of the country eliminate mask requirements for indoor settings. According to the New York Times, New York City Mayor Eric Adam has formally eliminated the city’s mandatory mask requirement for public schools. He also eliminated the necessity for “evidence of vaccination” at the majority of indoor venues, gyms, and eating places.
Here in DC – the mask mandate was lifted this week. More places are seeing pandemic restrictions relaxing. But will it last? Today I asked Dr. Fauci about what we can expect for life moving forward. pic.twitter.com/dxSTkb4Bxd

“It is past time for our city to reopen,” Adams stated on Friday.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles County is implementing the same move across the country. Despite Dr. Fauci’s cautions that COVID is not yet eradicated, local officials likewise opted to eliminate the necessity for indoor masks and evidence of immunisation. Residents may now enter grocery shops, restaurants, and bars without wearing a mask. California legislation, on the other hand, continues to demand vaccination evidence for anyone attending major indoor events.
Dr. Barbara Ferrer, head of public health for Los Angeles County, told the Times, “Covid-19 is a lethal virus that is still with us — it ebbs and flows.” We need to take advantage of the good times we’re going to enter, when risk is much reduced across the board for so many, and prepare for the possibility of a new version.”
Dr. Fauci Recommends COVID Vaccination Despite the Pandemic Not Being ‘Over’
Dr. Fauci underlined earlier this week in another interview that COVID is not yet over. He discussed COVID’s future with Danielle Moodie on her Woke AF show.
“Many individuals, for a number of reasons… see [COVID] as political,” Fauci stated in the video. “About refusing to be vaccinated, he stated, ‘I will worry about myself, I will take care of myself, and I will accept the chance.’ However, while dealing with a virus that is transmissible, you have a personal obligation to yourself and your family. However, you also have a social obligation.”
“Because if we truly want to put this virus, this epidemic, in the rearview mirror, we can contribute by not allowing the virus to circulate among us,” Fauci continued. And you accomplish this through vaccination. We appeal to the American people’s spirit to join us in a society-wide and collaborative endeavor to eradicate this illness.”
