Hana Horká, a Folk Singer, Died of COVID After Purposefully Contracting the Virus | Viral News!

Hana Horká, a veteran folk singer, died of COVID-19 on Sunday after inadvertently exposing herself to the virus in an ill-advised attempt at self-immunization. She was 57 years old at the time.

Jan Rek, the Czech musician’s son, confirmed her death to Prague Morning, saying that she “wanted to catch the sickness than get vaccinated.”

Her tragic goal was to reclaim access to her beloved off-limits entertainment sources.

Horká, the lead vocalist for the popular international band Asonance, had requested a “recovery pass” to the sauna and theatre in her native Czech Republic, according to her son’s account, where proof of vaccination or a recent infection is required to access specific cultural venues, according to the BBC.

Horká, who had not received the vaccine, saw an opportunity for the latter after both Rek and his father contracted the illness despite being immunised over the holidays. Instead of isolating herself, she purposefully went out with the afflicted members of her family.

“She should have isolated for a week because we tested positive,” said Rek, who described his mother as “quite a legend” in country and folk music circles.

On social media, the singer unveiled her COVID-catching method, claiming she was recuperating well from the sickness.

“I made it… According to local news sites, Horká said in the post, “It was intense.” “Now there’ll be a theatre, a spa, and a concert… “As well as a hasty trip to the sea.”

“It’s here for me, and it’s here for you,” she continued.

The folk musician died two days later from coronavirus complications, according to her son, who said she “choked to death” within 10 minutes.

Rek has now blamed her death on the anti-vaxxer movement, claiming that his mother often shared anti-vaccine articles on social media.

“I know exactly who influenced her,” the devastated son added, claiming that he attempted unsuccessfully to persuade Horká to get inoculated. “It saddens me that she trusted strangers more than her biological family.”

While that was going on, there were a record number of COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic on Wednesday. There were 28,469 cases out of a population of 10.7 million.

In the end, Rek believes that his mother’s death would motivate others to obtain the vaccine.

“It’s more impactful than just graphs and figures if you have living examples from real life,” he stated. “It’s impossible to empathise with numbers.”
