Residents in New York State Will Get Higher Snap Payments in March!

According to the USDA, New Yorkers registered in the Additional Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including those receiving the highest amount of benefits permitted by law, will receive a supplemental allotment later this month.

According to officials, the emergency assistance supplement will be available to households who do not get the maximum monthly benefit allowed under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

According to authorities, the supplemental payment will be at least $95, for households who are already near or at the maximum amount of SNAP benefits, which is $835 for a family of four. Each year, this federal subsidy program operated by the state’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance injects around $230 million into the state’s economy.

Families getting SNAP benefits in all counties outside of New York City should begin receiving them today, March 17, and should continue through the end of the day on March 17. Additionally, SNAP recipients in the five-county metropolitan area of New York City should anticipate receiving their payments between March 10 and March 25, according to the USDA.

Snap Payments

According to a state official, more than $2.5 billion in extra payments had already been made in New York as of 2021. They claim in their statement that payments will be made directly to recipients’ existing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) accounts, which will be accessible via their EBT cards.
