In agreement with the USDA, people who are registered in the Additional Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), even those who are now receiving the maximum amount of benefits permitted by law, will be eligible to receive a supplemental allotment sometime later this month.

Households that do not regularly get the maximum amount of benefits allowed per month under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will be eligible for the emergency assistance boost, according to officials (SNAP).

For households who are already near to or at the maximum amount of SNAP benefits, which is $835 for a family of four, the additional payment will be at least $95, according to authorities. Approximately $230 million is injected into the state’s economy each year as a result of this federal subsidy program, which is handled by the state’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).

Families that qualify for SNAP benefits in all counties outside of New York City should begin getting these benefits as early as today, March 17, and should continue to receive them until the end of the day on March 17. SNAP recipients in the five-county New York City region should anticipate their payments to arrive between March 10 and March 25, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
