Riches is a six-part drama that follows the exploits of the fashionable, affluent, and wildly successful Richards family. ITV has released a first look at the series.
The series, created by Abby Ajayi (How to Get Away With Murder, Inventing Anna), centres on a family conflict following the untimely death of London business magnate Stephen Richards.
After Stephen’s death, his estranged American daughter and son return, and two family factions compete for control of the Richards empire.
ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill stated, “Abby’s scripts are brilliant, full of surprising and entertaining family feuds in a world of privilege and power.”
The series will be available on Amazon Prime Video in the United States.
About The TV Show Riches
This series depicts a family of Irish con artists from rural Louisiana, the Travellers. Dahlia Malloy (Minnie Driver) has recently been released from prison after serving two years. The fact that she has become a heroin addict in prison exacerbates her unpredictable and erratic conduct. In her absence, con artist Wayne (Eddie Izzard) and their children have continued to defraud their way throughout the nation.
Cael, Di Di, and Sam comprise the Malloy children. Cael (Noel Fisher) is the eldest, the most reticent and intelligent child, and the one who is closest to his mother. As required, he is skilled at operating petty cash register frauds, picking locks, creating phoney identification, stealing cars, disarming alarms, and faking epileptic episodes.
Di Di (Shannon Marie Woodward) is similarly cunning, adept at fraud and theft, and has a closer relationship with her father. Sam (Adrian Mitchell), the youngest of the con artists, is extremely artistic and regularly dresses in female attire.
A tragic auto accident affords the Malloy family the opportunity to adopt the identities of a deceased and rich family, bringing about a dramatic transformation in their lives. Under the guise of the “H. Douglas and Cherien Rich” family, they infiltrate the affluent enclave of Eden Falls.
Wayne connives his way into a position as an attorney for Panco, a famous land-developing firm, and the Malloys find their new suburban lifestyle even stranger than their former existence.
The new existence of the family is constantly at risk of being exposed. Dahlia’s dangerous cousin, fellow Traveller Dale Malloy (Todd Stashwick), who wants a piece of their new existence, represents one of the greatest threats.
